Red Wine Tasting & Blending Seminar

May 4, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$40.00

  • How does a winemaker select the varietals and the proportion of each to create a blended wine?
  • What impact does the growing year have on the wine?
  • Why do some wines get better with age while others are meant to be enjoyed right away?
  • What are the qualities of an age-worthy wine?

Dive into these questions and more at our upcoming seminar led by local Sommelier Amy Savoury!

You will be guided through a vertical tasting of the award-winning 2015, 2016 and not-yet-released 2017 Quintessence Red wines where you will have the opportunity to assess and taste the differences between the vintages which can stem from the growing season, the barrels used, and the blend itself, among other examples.

After exploring the qualities and nuances of each vintage, you will make your way to the cellar to do a barrel tasting of each of the varietals that make up the Quintessence Red blend. The individual grapes all have recognizable characteristics that lend themselves to this signature wine each year.

With your new knowledge, you will now take a hands-on approach to winemaking to experiment and create your own 2018 Quintessence Red blend! Play with different percentages of each varietal and find a mix that suits your palate.

Following the seminar, guests will have exclusive access to purchase from the limited library of 2015 Quintessence Red, as well as the not-yet-released 2017 vintage.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the winery for a price of $40 + tax
